about Lisa
Lisa Schneider is an accomplished attorney and corporate governance advisor with more than twenty years of legal and policy experience in areas including corporate governance for public and private companies, securities regulation, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate social and environmental responsibility. Lisa also has extensive experience with international legal matters including employment-based immigration, cross-border M&A and international investment in U.S. business operations.

In addition to her role with SLG, Lisa served as a senior governance advisor for an international corporate governance consultancy based in Rome, Italy, through which she advised listed companies throughout Europe, Asia, and Latin America on issues such as board composition, board/management relations, annual shareholder meetings, executive compensation policies, general governance benchmarking and evaluations, board evaluations, and shareholder relations.

Lisa has authored a primer for the US Council of Institutional Investors on Cross-Border Proxy Voting and presented a workshop on duties and considerations of joining a not-for-profit board of directors.

Prior to SLG, Lisa served as General Counsel and Director of Corporate Governance for the North Carolina State Treasurer’s office, which manages one of the top ten largest public pension funds in the nation, holding more than $100 billion in total assets under management. Lisa has also served as an Assistant Attorney General in DOJ’s environmental division and practiced with a boutique law firm specializing in business immigration law. Lisa received her J.D. from Tulane University, where she served as Managing Editor of the Tulane Environmental Law Journal, and her B.A. from the University of Miami. She is a member of both the North Carolina and Florida State Bars.

Lisa serves as a member of the Advisory Board for North State Bank. She is a Fellow of the North Carolina Institute of Political Leadership, and a graduate of Leadership Raleigh. Lisa has been active in state and federal politics, having worked in a presidential campaign and various statewide and local races. Lisa enjoys being active in the community, including participating in a local bowling league, acting with a community theater, and volunteering with civic organizations like the Sierra Club. Lisa values the time she gets to spend with her two young children and her husband.
